Day
1: You arrive in Addis Ababa; rest and recreation. Take a city
tour to find your feet. In the evening we have dinner at the Fin-Fine
Restaurant. Here we brief you about the trip ahead.
Day
2: Drive from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar via the Blue Nile Gorge.
Stop to view the ancient Portuguese Bridge. We have a picnic lunch on the
way. We spend the night at the Dib-Ambessa Hotel right in the central part
of Bahir Dar.
Day
3: Visit the Blue Nile Falls in the morning and take a boat tour
of the island monasteries in the afternoon. In the evening we have local
food and enjoy the bars of Addis Ababa. We look at the shops, market and
provincial nightlife. We stay at Dib-Ambessa Hotel.
Day
4: In the morning drive from Bahir Dar to Gonder, Visit the castle
sites and the Royal Baths in the afternoon. We stay overnight at the Fogera
Hotel. We eat local food or we can eat international cuisine.
Day
5: Drive from Gonder to Axum via the Simien Mountain chain views
at Lima-Limu. On the way to Axum we visit the Queen of Sheba Temple. We
arrive evening in Axum. This is enough time to see the Obelisks. In the
evening experience local Tigrayan dancing and try it for yourself. We stay
overnight at the Axum Tourist Hotel.
Day
6: Visit the museum, historic sites and Church of Saint Mary Zion.
Later in the morning drive from Axum to Lalibela. We stay overnight at
Jerusalem Guest House.
Day
7: Visit the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela with tourist guides.
In the evening board games available. Overnight at Jerusalem Hotel.
Day
8: Drive from Lalibela to Desai sightseeing on route. We stay
overnight in Desai at Ambasel Hotel.
Day
9: Drive from Desai to Addis Ababa via the Tarmaber Tunnel Pass.
Stay overnight at Emad Guest Apartments in Addis Ababa or hotel of your
choice.
Day
10: Rest and relax in Addis Ababa in the morning. At Midday we
take a trip to the Menegesha Forest for a quick walk and breath of fresh air
away from the pollution of the city. In the evening we have dinner at the
Top View Restaurant followed by an African film. We take a nightcap at
Ethiopia Hotel.
Day
11: Drive from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa transit via Awash Park. We
arrive in the evening in Dire Dawa. We stay overnight at Kara Mara Hotel.
Day
12: Visit the Islamic city of Harar on foot with local guide. We
stay overnight at the Ras Hotel in Harrar. After dusk see the Hyena Man
feeding the hyenas. Visit the shops to see intricate baskets weaving and see
some of the mosques.
Day
13: Return to Addis Ababa from Harrar. Evening barbecue.
Day
14: Addis Ababa site seeing and shopping in the Mercarto. Drink
Honey Mead Beer and learn about the history of Addis Ababa from the Entoto
Hills. Evening time we will eat dinner at Farsika Restaurant and enjoy
Ethiopian dancing.
